September: Guest Post

Meet Lucy from Beauty For Biochemists

Hello Lovelies,

My name is Lucy and I run the blog Beauty for Biochemists. I have been given the wonderful opportunity to write a guest post for Powder Blue and all of you lovely people!

Jessica suggested that I write about things I’m currently loving, I took this idea and decided to do one favourite per a particular category. These categories are Clothing, Perfume, Hair, Makeup, Jewellery, Home and Skincare. As you can tell, I didn’t eek out every last category I could think of at all…
Here is a picture of all the lovely things and I will explain in more detail below J

Clothing
My favourite item of clothing at the moment hands down, has to be my Marks and Spencer’s jumper. It’s warm and cosy, looks great over jeans or leggings and has a gorgeous gradiated blue stripe. It goes with loads of other things in my wardrobe too which is a bonus! A great Summer to Autumn transitional piece.

Perfume
This is actually my second bottle of this particular perfume. It is Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci. I fell in love with this the moment I discovered it in Manchester airport two years ago. Since then it has been my everyday scent. It’s particularly appropriate now the colder days have started to creep in, as it has a warm, sweet and woody smell. It makes me feel lovely and cosy on long Autumn days, which is never a bad thing. I have a more in depth review on my blog if you are interested.

Hair
Now I have never been a huge fan of hair oils as my hair has always been quite thin.  However, after  ‘dip-dyeving’ (see what I did there) into the world of pink and purple ombre hair earlier this year, my locks have needed a little TLC. I chose this Vo5 oil as it was way cheaper than the likes of Moroccan oil and Macadamia oil that I had been reading about. I wanted to see if I would get along with it before I made the splurge. My hair literally drinks this up and feels so much softer and smoother afterwards. I swear I can hear it whispering thank you into my ears after using this. It also smells good and at £5.19 you can’t go wrong!

Makeup
Now this is may be cheating, but It’s a makeup trend I have been loving, as appose to a particular product. The trend is berry lips. I have always loved darker lipstick, but haven’t always been brave enough to pull a full on gothic lipstick off. My products of choice can all be used as a deep berry lip (if you’re brave enough) or a light stain, which is how I like to use them. They are MAC Dark Side lipstick, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain and Clinique lipgloss in Currant, for that little extra shine!

Jewellery
I have been loving really quirky jewellery pieces recently, like this skull bracelet from Matalan. I love how the girly pastel colours tone down the grungy skull beads. It also goes perfectly with my Rose Gold watch from River Island.

Home
I have been really into scented candles lately; ever since I discovered the Lily-Flame Parma Violets candle I have been hooked. My most recent find is this Bomb Cosmetics candle in Lavender Musk. It fills the room with its wonderful scent and is great for bedtime reading. Just don’t forget to blow it out before you fall asleep!

Skincare
Finally, my favourite skincare item of the moment is the forever talked about Bioderma Crealine H2O. I finally caved in and bought this whilst on holiday in France this year. I have heard so many amazing things about it, especially for sensitive skin, so when I saw it for 11.99 I just had to get it! I’m so glad that it hasn’t disappointed me, it removes all make up and is very very gentle to use.

Well done if you made it this far! Let me know if you have any of these products and what you think of them.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post, and thank you Jessica for letting me write it!
Have a lovely day
Much Love
Lou
